Friends....Good Ones

Are you tired of all those sissy friendship poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that really speaks to true friendship:

1. When you are sad -I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you sad.

2. When you are blue -I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile -I will know you finally got laid.

4. When you are scared -I will rag on you about it every chance I get.

5. When you are worried -I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be and to quit whining.

6. When you are confused - I will use little words.

7. When you are sick - Stay the hell away from me until you get better. I don't want what you have.

8. When you fall - I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.

What is it that they say about "TRUE" friends??? They aren't the ones that bail you out of jail. They are the ones that help you hide the body.
Amen!
(I just wish I could figure out who my "true" friends are.) I'm having a really tough time with that right now.....and it's pretty f**kin' lonely.

A female friend once said this to me:

"You know how I know you're a good friend? Everytime you've had to take care of me in my drunken states you've never tried to cop a feel, where every other guy has."

That's an extreme case. I guess I'm kind of a nice guy *shudder*

So get drunk around your friends and see who tries to get their hands under their shirts.

As far as testing your female friends, well I'm ill equipped there. You could actually go kill someone and see what they would do, but that's a little extreme; however effective.

If you do decide to do that I've got a laundry list of names you could pick off. The world wouldn't miss Paris Hilton. (JK...Please don't sue me Paris.)

WW: LOL - as always! There are definitely some drastic ways to test a friendship. I'll let you know what I decide. ;o)

EJ: Those are really true friends. I've got friends that live less than a mile away who are too busy to call or visit. Congrats to you on picking some good ones!!

Jenn, is this right , my friend who I help every 2 weeks with a $$ donation got all bent out of shape last night cause I wouldn't get her a beer. Then I read this morning now I don't know if I should dissappear for awhile, like a long road trip. Why do friends expext so much and give so little in return?

Squirm: Glad to be of service!

Sag Sis: I don't blame you....it hurts when you feel used. Maybe a separation wouldn't be a bad idea!

I loved the list, and realize that true friends do everything on the list without the worries of having it all explode in their face. I once did tell a friend to keep the hell away from me when she had some super-bug she just couldn't shake. She understood.

They're hard to come by, but true friends always know where they can pick up after they left off... even if it's been years. I am lucky to have many friends like that!

Ellen: Yes you are! It's really nice to sit back and realize that you have true friends that you can actually count on! I hope I can say that some day!

Great list, wish I'd made it over to catch-up here earlier- (SNL is on now)
Most of it seems right to me!

I've got some very good long-term friends, n They DO know how to pick right up where it left off. Generally know how to joke around without takin offense too-
The best are the ones who help fight the trend of never reaching out- always send a card for no reason, or call on a quiet Sunday off (whenever cell minutes or calling card minutes are available)

N I always agree about having the contagious stay far away...
caught somethin myself this week-

Hope you're beginning to recover from the trip illness-

Snags: Those kinds of friends are something I yearn for....I just always seem to pick the wrong ones. Maybe one day I'll learn. For now, I just hang with the family. Can't go wrong there.

I am starting to slowing feel better. Thanks for asking!
